NAB Trade Show with Multiple Exhibit Booths

Media equipment and platform service providers want to get qualified OTT and new media experts to staff their booths at their broadcast and streaming TV trade show booths. Knowledgeable and experienced booth staff people can interact with visitors, learn their key interests and gather contact and followup information. Unfortunately, experienced company staff may be unavailable to attend trade shows or expert employees(engineers) may not be good at communication with potential customers. It can be hard to find experts who are available for temporary assignments. Hiring independent experts can be a good way to get booth staff with the right industry knowledge which also have good communication skills.

Key objectives of companies exhibiting at trade shows is to attract, engage and get contact and qualifying information from people who come into – or near – exhibit booths at trade shows.

Key booth staffing options include sending technical staff, hiring temporary talent (e.g. actors) or getting an industry expert to work your booth.

Regardless of your booth staffing methods, your exhibit staff should have understanding of industry topics and key customer needs.

It is also helpful to coach your booth staff on key questions to ask and how to gather information.

Help your staff to develop several questions that help to start a dialog with potential customers. Ask your staff to get business cards or get their contact details from qualified visitors. Ask your exhibit staff to get at least one key followup topic for their contacts. I get a person’s business card, write the date we met along with a key topic we discussed and write a key followup activity to do after the event.

Have reviews at the end of each day with your staff to identify key topics and interests that are discovered during conversations with visitors.

One of the best tactics for having a successful trade show exhibit experience which gets many qualified leads with followup information is to create and use a sample script. The sample script is not read verbatim. It is a sequence of topics and questions that help any of the staff to more easily engage visitors. A sample script also boosts the confidence of your staff.
